John F. Conroy

Mr. Conroy is of counsel to the firm. Having served in the U.S. Navy after law school, Mr. Conroy joined the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice in 1970. As a member of the Criminal Section, Mr. Conroy was charged with enforcement of federal criminal laws guaranteeing individual civil rights. As Deputy Chief of the Criminal Section from 1975 through 1978, he supervised the trial activities of 28 attorneys prosecuting criminal civil rights cases nationwide. At the time of his departure from government service, Mr. Conroy had successfully presented more criminal civil rights cases than any previous member of the Department.
Mr. Conroy has extensive white-collar criminal defense and civil fraud litigation
experience. He has represented defrauded companies, such as Mutual of
Omaha, in reinsurance litigation, and Continental Telephone Company in
government procurement fraud inquiries. Among the clients he has represented
are individuals involved in government fraud investigations ranging from the
probe of corruption in the Philippine government under Ferdinand Marcos to
the Iran-Contra affair. He has represented clients in the independent counsel
investigations of former Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy, former Housing
Secretary Henry Cisneros, and in federal election campaign finance
investigations conducted by the Department of Justice.
Mr. Conroy has represented individuals in personal injury and medical malpractice cases since 1979 and has obtained jury verdicts up to $1,500,000
on behalf of his clients.
